A Guide to Brainstorming Sessions in Amsterdam

The most productive brainstorming sessions are when you make them an occasion instead of a chore. With this guide to brainstorming sessions in Amsterdam, you’ll have the tools to arrange something extraordinary for your team. And for anything else, just ask our experts

The Best Areas in Amsterdam for Brainstorming

  • Oud Zuid (Old South) –  Old South is the most affluent area of Amsterdam. You’ll find the city’s finest museums and theatres here. It’s in Old South where the houses are the biggest, and the streets are the widest. You’ll find that the brainstorming venues here live up to the area’s reputation.
  • Oost – Oost is the place to be for parks, international food, and great bars. It’s the excitement of the city centre but less hectic. Brainstorming venues here are versatile in style, from the cutting edge to the historical, so your session here will be as you like it!
  • Nieuwmarkt en Lastage – Nieuwmarket en Lastage is a neighbourhood at the Eastern border of the city centre. It’s full of charming bars, shops, historical buildings, the NEMO museum, and the VR Cinema. Brainstorming venues here have a decidedly creative feel and tend to be more spacious than their counterparts in the rest of the city centre.

Transport

The public transport in Amsterdam is great. It’s an integrated network of metros, trams, buses, and ferries, all ran by GVB. You can get access to it all with an OV chip card that you top up as you go or with a 1-7 day pass. Or, you can just travel via contactless payments.

The tram and metro are the smoothest way to get around. But if you want to get to the North of the city, we recommend taking the Ferry. It’s a short ride with beautiful views, and it doesn’t cost a cent.

And if you want to travel as the locals do, we recommend renting a bike. It’s quick, easy and safe. Or if you’re in a rush, there’s always an Uber

Equipment and Games for Brainstorming Sessions in Amsterdam

Thankfully, most brainstorming rooms in Amsterdam come with basic office supplies and all the AV equipment necessary for a fully immersive brainstorming session.

For anything extra that the venue doesn’t supply, you have lots of options. First of all, it’s always best to check with the venue and the local extra to know for sure what’s already provided.

We recommend Like Stationary and Van Der Heijde if you’re looking to source stationery for your brainstorming session in Amsterdam. Or perhaps the Moleskin store for something a little more special? If you need special AV equipment brought in, then we would recommend you check out HWC.

If it’s a long session, then breaks to have a little fun can really re-energise your team. Check out Scarlett Entertainment for fun electronic games like pinball or arcade games. Or for something a little more rigorous, check out Our Team Land. For example, they have indoor darts and hoops games that will drag out the competitor in all of you.

And just a bit of creative advice, to get everyone relaxed and build a rapport between the team, check out our creative ice-breakers for corporate events. Taking just a few minutes to break the ice could go a long way to a productive meeting where everyone feels involved.

FAQ for brainstorming Rooms in Amsterdam

A brainstorming venue in Amsterdam can cost between €40 - €75 per hour. This price can vary depending on the size of the space, location, catering and technical equipment. Our City Experts can give you a rough quote based on the requirements of your brainstorming session.

Each brainstorming venue has different cancellation policies. Generally, the earlier you cancel, the more money you can expect to get back. However, it's quite common that last-minute bookings (less than 48 hours before your brainstorming venue) are non-refundable.

Brainstorming sessions require active and motivated team members. Therefore we recommend choosing a brainstorming venue that fosters creativity. Think of unique decor with lots of natural light. Outdoor space for better breakout sessions is also recommended.

The minimum amount of time you can book a photoshoot studio in Amsterdam is one hour. However, you can book the same venue over several days if the space in question is available.

It is usually the case that venues will provide complimentary water, tea, and coffee services. Complimentary snacks are not typical but yet not uncommon. As for full catering services, most venues will provide this at an extra cost. Alternatively, you can have private catering arranged. If this is something you’re interested in, our local expert will be happy to recommend appropriate caterers for your brainstorming session
