Japan has given us a lot of great stuff. One of their biggest gifts is the Empty Orchestra. Or as you might know it, Karaoke.

Karaoke has flourished in London from dedicated karaoke party venues to neighbourhood pubs. And the nightlife in London is all the better for it.

We’ve put together a list of the coolest karaoke bars in London for you to see for yourself.

Mama Shelter Shoreditch literally does it all. You can stay there, eat there, drink there, and… sing your heart out! The place is unapologetically full of colour, and you can book the rooms for reasonable prices.

Mama Shelter gives you a lot of reasons to book with them, and fewer reasons to leave once you check-in: the Japanese-style karaoke rooms; complimentary pizza and cava for every room; on-demand movies in all bedrooms; and a big cooked breakfast for when you wake up.

Lucky Voice

Lucky Voice was inspired by a 24-hour karaoke marathon in Japan. Founders Martha Lane Fox, Nick Thistleton, Julian Douglas and Jonny Shaw decided they had to bring the life-affirming joy they’d discovered back to the UK. In the summer of 2005, Lucky Voice Soho opened its doors. You can book it for up to 160 people.

They now have three more venues and launched their Karaoke Kits in Harrods in 2009. So, the party doesn’t have to stop once you leave their venues. You can still sing with their online karaoke player for free if you want to keep your vocal cords in shape.

It’s not a bar with 80’s movies posters on the walls. Maggie’s Club goes all in. It’s basically a fully functional museum.

The Star of Bethnal Green redefines what it is to be a friendly local pub, with a range of exciting entertainment to enjoy. It’s particularly known for parties, including an appearance by famous actor Idris Elba moonlighting as a DJ.

The Star is like a house-turned-pub space of dark woods, retro lampshades and lots of socialising. Good food too. Book a karaoke night upstairs and sing the night away.
