The Coolest Karaoke Bars in London

Japan has given us a lot of great stuff. One of their biggest gifts is the Empty Orchestra. Or as you might know it, Karaoke.

Karaoke has flourished in London from dedicated karaoke party venues to neighbourhood pubs. And the nightlife in London is all the better for it.

We’ve put together a list of the coolest karaoke bars in London for you to see for yourself.

Mama Shelter

Mama Shelter Shoreditch literally does it all. You can stay there, eat there, drink there, and… sing your heart out! The place is unapologetically full of colour, and you can book the rooms for reasonable prices.

Mama Shelter gives you a lot of reasons to book with them, and fewer reasons to leave once you check-in: the Japanese-style karaoke rooms; complimentary pizza and cava for every room; on-demand movies in all bedrooms; and a big cooked breakfast for when you wake up.

Lucky Voice

Lucky Voice was inspired by a 24-hour karaoke marathon in Japan. Founders Martha Lane Fox, Nick Thistleton, Julian Douglas and Jonny Shaw decided they had to bring the life-affirming joy they’d discovered back to the UK. In the summer of 2005, Lucky Voice Soho opened its doors. You can book it for up to 160 people.

They now have three more venues and launched their Karaoke Kits in Harrods in 2009. So, the party doesn’t have to stop once you leave their venues. You can still sing with their online karaoke player for free if you want to keep your vocal cords in shape.

Maggie’s Club
Eighties-themed entertainment venue

Maggie’s Club isn’t specifically a karaoke bar; it’s an 80’s themed nightclub. BUT, they do Wednesday karaoke night, so it’s a great option for karaoke in London. You can also rent the venue for private group events.

It’s not a bar with 80’s movies posters on the walls. Maggie’s Club goes all in. It’s basically a fully functional museum.

Star of Bethnal Green

Star of Bethnal Green rubs shoulders with traditional East End pubs. Once you step foot inside, however, you’ll realise it’s anything but a ‘traditional’ pub. It celebrates the weird, the wonderful, and the colourful.

The Star of Bethnal Green redefines what it is to be a friendly local pub, with a range of exciting entertainment to enjoy. It’s particularly known for parties, including an appearance by famous actor Idris Elba moonlighting as a DJ.

The Star is like a house-turned-pub space of dark woods, retro lampshades and lots of socialising. Good food too. Book a karaoke night upstairs and sing the night away.

The Bat and Ball

The Bat and Ball has a functional look – it’s just that the function, here, is fun. They are first and foremost, a table tennis bar. But they pride themselves on their DJ and karaoke nights too.

The UV booth is an awesome addition, and there are over 20,000 songs, so you’re spoilt for choice. If you are short of inspiration, the Games Master will be around to help find your karaoke spirit animal.

Bunga Bunga
Quirky and mesmerizing entertainment venue

Bunga Bunga is a visual spectacle, and the karaoke party is lively, to say the least…

Bunga Bunga is also a quality pizzeria, with an impressive menu of Italian cuisine. You can check it out or even have food delivered

Filled with neon and bright colours, the karaoke lounge and rooms are for private hire for between 4 & 50 people.

Lan Kwai Fong is in the business end of Camden Town. You could spend the day here.

They have three electronic beer pong tables that promise to be great fun. If you don’t fancy the beer, you can always turn to their signature cocktails.

After that, you’ll probably need some of Lan Kwai Fong’s snacks, which range from deep-fried chicken wings to soft shell crab to salt and pepper tofu. If you can’t wait to get there, check out their menu.

The showpiece of Lan Kwai Fong, however, is the private party rooms. Each comes with state of the art karaoke systems and high-definition plasma screens, which are perfect for the party or presentation that needs a twist.

The Old Queens Head is, indeed, old. It’s been in business in Islington since the 17th century and is a fantastical looking place complete with period British fixings and warm Latin colours.

This bar is a lively neighbourhood institution, hosting a wild weekly pub quiz, live comedy and music, and massive weekend parties. That’s without mentioning the private room available for hire plus karaoke rooms
